About Us

At St Mark’s School, we believe that every child deserves an education that nurtures their self-esteem, fosters meaningful relationships, and raises their academic and personal standards. Our dedicated Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Resource Bases provide a supportive, structured environment for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and creative Teacher of SEND to join our team and make a lasting impact on the lives of our young people.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher at St Mark's, you will be responsible for delivering a stimulating, differentiated curriculum tailored to the unique needs of pupils within our MLD and ASD bases. You will lead a classroom environment that values inclusivity, manages group dynamics with empathy, and utilises positive behaviour strategies to help pupils thrive. Additionally, you will take on a curriculum leadership area within the school, shaping progress and continuity across classes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver highly individualised lessons that align with the National Curriculum, using a variety of teaching strategies to engage pupils with complex needs.
  • Effectively deploy and collaborate with Teaching Assistants and support staff to ensure seamless classroom delivery.
  • Systematically record pupil progress against National Curriculum descriptors and Personal Learning Goal indicators (PLIMs) to inform Annual Reviews and transitional planning.
  • Act as a Form Tutor, maintain a purposeful and orderly classroom, and build high levels of rapport with students who may display challenging behaviour or emotional needs.
  • Work alongside parents, carers, multi-agency professionals, and school leadership to provide holistic, confidential support for every child.

About You

We are looking for an adaptable, self-motivated educator who possesses:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or currently working towards it with mentor support).
  • A deep understanding of SEND, the principles of inclusion, and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
  • Exceptional patience, tact, and diplomacy when working with pupils who experience barriers to engagement and shorter attention spans.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a small classroom budget and lead a curriculum area.
  • A collaborative spirit and the emotional resilience to navigate conflicting demands in a high-pressure, rewarding environment.

What We Offer

  • A supportive, collaborative staff culture committed to mutual professional development (CPD).
  • The opportunity to work within specialist resource bases alongside a dedicated team of multi-agency professionals.
  • A structured framework for career progression and school-wide leadership.

If you have the flexibility, creativity, and drive to help our pupils achieve their full potential, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your application by Tuesday 9th June 2026.

Please note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive a sufficient volume of applications. Early submission is strongly encouraged.
