Do you think, therefore you teach? If you believe that Socratic questioning belongs in the classroom and that Descartes deserves more than a passing mention, we’ve got just the role for you.
We’re looking for a Lecturer in Philosophy who can bring big ideas to life for A-Level learners. This isn’t just about teaching theories - it’s about sparking curiosity, encouraging critical thinking, and helping students explore the world through a philosophical lens.
You will:
- Deliver thought-provoking A Level Philosophy lessons that challenge, inspire, and engage.
- Design and delivering a robust Scheme of Work and Assessment Plan aligned with awarding body standards.
- Act as a personal tutor—supporting learners with UCAS applications, academic guidance, and personal development.
- Create stimulating resources and planning enriching trips that connect philosophical ideas to real-world experiences.
- Promote Philosophy at open days and college events, showing students why Plato still matters.
- Use digital platforms like Microsoft Teams and the college VLE to enhance learning.
You will need:
- A degree in Philosophy or a related subject.
- A Level 5 teaching qualification (or a commitment to gain one).
- Experience teaching A-Level or equivalent, with a strong grasp of assessment and moderation.
- A passion for helping students think critically, argue logically, and write persuasively.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
