The Animal Management department have had a significant investment this year allowing us to build a new animal centre and outside enclosures.

The role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised member of staff to further the development of the Animal Management Team. We are looking for someone with the ability to deliver high quality, inspiring theory and practical teaching sessions, with strong industry links, to give our learners an exceptional learning experience. We require someone who has the ability to act as a role model for aspiring animal managers, who has the personal qualities, values, and high standards of animal welfare that students can aspire to. You will have strong science laboratory skills, knowledge of animal nutrition or an animal therapist background to tie in with our T Level and Animal Science pathway.

You will be responsible for teaching and developing a range of courses within Animal Management from Level 1 to 3, with the possibility of taking on course leadership duties.

You:

  • Teaching qualification Level 5 or commitment to work towards during employment
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in related animal field
  • GCSE in English & Maths
  • Knowledge of assessment procedures
  • Understanding of current developments in the subject area

If you don't have a teaching qualification, New College Swindon will sponsor a successful candidate to gain qualifications alongside their teaching commitments. We are most interested in hearing from people with practical 'hands on' animal experience, but this role would also be suitable for someone with an animal therapist background.

This role will be starting August 2025.
