Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role:
This post is responsible for working within a high performing team to improve the quality and consistency of teaching and learning in the College’s further education, higher education and apprenticeship provision. You will work closely with Heads of Faculty and Curriculum Managers to help them develop and implement quality improvement plans that drive up learner outcomes. You will work closely with the Heads and Directors of Teaching and Learning, to ensure that teaching staff benefit from effective support, coaching and continuing professional development. You will lead a team of Teaching and Learning Coaches, providing effective support to teachers that helps them achieve and maintain high quality teaching, learning and assessment practice.
Key responsibilities:
Drive improvements in the quality and consistency of teaching, learning and assessment across the College
Evaluate teaching practice through observations, learning walks, deep dives and learner work scrutiny
Support and challenge curriculum teams to improve learner progress, achievement and outcomes
Lead and manage Teaching & Learning Coaches, including allocation of support and performance management
Provide coaching and direct developmental support to teaching staff
Contribute to teacher induction, probation support and initial teacher training
Identify CPD needs and support delivery of high-quality professional development
Support production of Self-Assessment Reports (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plans (QIP)
Use data and KPIs to identify strengths, gaps and improvement priorities
Support quality assurance processes with awarding organisations
Lead cross-college teaching and learning projects and share best practice
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Degree or equivalent and a teaching qualification (or working towards)
GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or Level 2 equivalent)
Significant post-16 teaching and curriculum leadership experience
Proven impact on improving teaching quality and learner outcomes
Experience leading staff and delivering CPD
Strong understanding of Ofsted and quality improvement
Ability to analyse data, coach staff and lead change effectively
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that we advertise our salaries on a range to indicate the trajectory of progression that can be made. Appointments are usually made at the start of the salary range.
