About Us:
Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role:
We have multiple part time and Full time position for 20 hours and 36 hours per week.
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual to join our Learning Resource Centre (LRC) team. This role offers the opportunity to support students within a lively and varied Further Education setting.
Our LRCs are busy, inclusive and welcoming spaces that support thousands of learners each year. With three hubs across the college, you’ll play a key role in ensuring students can access digital tools, study resources, online platforms and the support they need to succeed in their studies.
We’re looking for friendly, proactive and student‑centred individuals who can help us maintain an outstanding LRC service.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing high-quality support to students and staff using print, digital and online resources.
Helping learners access college IT systems, software and digital learning platforms.
Delivering workshops, inductions and study skills sessions to groups and individuals.
Carrying out a range of library duties including circulation, cataloguing and processing of print resources.
Maintaining a positive learning environment including managing behaviour and safeguarding student health and safety.
Promoting LRC services through displays, events and participation in college-wide activities.
Working collaboratively with curriculum areas and support teams to meet student and staff resource needs.
You may be scheduled to work at any of our campuses (Stratford, East Ham or NewVIc) depending on service needs, so flexibility and willingness to travel between sites are essential.
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Experience in customer service, education, libraries, learning support or similar equivalent transferable skills.
Proactive, well‑organised and able to prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment.
Ability to communicate confidently with a diverse student community, including learners with additional support needs.
Providing administrative support such as record keeping, booking systems, resource organisation or similar processes.
Have experience (or an interest in developing skills) in promoting services through displays, events, or digital communications.
Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification (including GCSE English & Maths or equivalent).
Experience in an educational or library setting is desirable, but we also welcome applicants with strong customer‑focused skills who are keen to learn and grow within the role.
