Job Purpose

You will teach, tutor, and support learners on the Entry Skills Pathway, a programme designed for young people who do not yet meet the entry requirements for Level 1 courses. Learners on this programme often face barriers to learning, have low starting points, may have experienced disrupted education, SEND, SEMH needs, or have previously attended PRUs or been NEET. Many learners may initially struggle to engage or present challenging behaviour.

You will deliver English, maths and tutorial alongside sessions that develop personal, social, and study skills, and facilitate project-based learning that taps into learners’ interests, builds independence, and develops skills for adulthood and next steps. You will also lead enrichment activities that foster confidence, participation, and a sense of achievement.

The postholder will set high expectations, build trusting and supportive relationships, and design lessons that are engaging, meaningful, and responsive to the strengths, needs, and aspirations of each learner. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and external professionals to ensure learners are motivated, supported, and able to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally
