The Role:

Join Our Team at Newham College as an Exam Invigilator

Newham College is looking for exam Invigilators to join our dedicated team on an hourly paid basis support examination across our campuses. Successful candidates are expected to be reliable, punctual, diligent, good communicators and to remain calm under pressure.

As an Exam Invigilator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of examinations across Newham college sites. Reporting directly to the Exams Manager.

This role offers flexible hours from Monday to Friday, typically between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, with occasional evening shifts depending on demand. With average working hours between 10-25 per week. However, these are not confirmed therefore we require candidates who are flexible.

Key responsibilities.

Invigilating examinations to ensure adherence to regulations and procedures.

Maintaining a calm, controlled environment to support students during exams.

Assisting the Exams team with general administrative tasks as required.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

A reliable and punctual work ethic to ensure exams are conducted smoothly.

Diligence and attention to detail in upholding exam procedures and regulations.

Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students and staff.

The ability to remain calm under pressure.

While previous experience in exam invigilation, particularly within a Further Education setting, is advantageous, it is not essential.

Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults

These include (some of which are dependent on the role and the individual): Enhanced DBS including Children’s Barred List check, DfE teaching/management Barred List check, on-line searches, overseas criminal record check, evidence of identity and Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory references, confirmation of medical fitness, evidence of relevant qualifications and a check of previous employment history.
