Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role;

We are seeking two experienced, pragmatic and highly organised HR Coordinators to join the HR team at Newham College. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the culture here at Newham College!

This is an exciting new opportunity to join a high performing HR team. You will be joining the team at a time of real culture change. The HR Coordinator will be supporting the HR Business Partner. The postholder will be instrumental in ensuring the culture is truly embedded within the College and delivering a high quality HR service to colleagues within the College, supporting our drive to be the employer of choice within Newham and the FE sector.

The HR Coordinator (HRCo) plays a key role in providing a pro-active, operational, professional, and efficient HR service ensuring policies, procedures, legislation and best practice are adhered to, and works collaboratively with business stakeholders to ensure that our people are well supported.

The HRCo will contribute to the effectiveness of HR service delivery and will be an active participant and role model in relation to the day-to-day operational work of the HR team. They will take accountability of HR administration, recruitment and onboarding and monthly payroll administration, for set areas of the College.

Key responsibilities.

Provide professional HR support to managers across the College.

Support employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, redundancy and organisational change processes.

Lead on HR Administration, Payroll Administration and Recruitment and Onboarding 

Develop, implement and embed HR policies, procedures and best practice across the organisation.

Support workforce planning activities throughout the employee lifecycle.

Support on restructures, reorganisations, contractual changes and redundancy consultations.

Build strong relationships with stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve people-related issues.

Use HR data and reports to ensure timely and accurate records

Lead on inputting into HR systems, records and payroll changes, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.

Promote a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture across the College.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

Experience in a HR Administrative or Coordinator role

Excellent IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A willing attitude

We have two roles:

2 x Permanent, full time, 36 hours per week

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that it is Newham College’s policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised. However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
