The Role;

This role is a Part time, 25.2 hrs per week Lecutrer in Send Supported internships.

As a Supported Internship Tutor, you will primarily be based at one of our internship sites, the host business for one of our award-winning Supported Internship programs. You will guide and support interns in developing their communication, independence, employability, and life skills. Your ability to personalise learning experiences and your passion for empowering individuals will ensure the success of both the learners and the program.

Key responsibilities;

Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of learners with additional needs.

Support interns to build confidence and skills in areas such as communication, independence, teamwork, and employability.

Work closely with the host business to integrate on-the-job training and learning opportunities.

Provide ongoing one-to-one and group tutorial support, ensuring all learners are working towards their personal goals.

Monitor and track learner progress, creating detailed reports and providing constructive feedback.

Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support learner success and maintain effective communication.

Facilitate the transition of interns into sustainable employment or further education opportunities.

Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit a variety of learning styles and abilities, ensuring accessibility for all learners.

Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and encourages independence.

Uphold safeguarding and welfare responsibilities, ensuring learners feel supported and safe at all times.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

A teaching qualification such as PGCE

Strong commitment to inclusive education

Proven experience working with: Young people and adults with learning disabilities AND Individuals with additional support needs

Deep understanding of: Personalised learning and Student-cantered approaches

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with: Learner , Parents/carers, Colleagues

A proactive, empathetic, and supportive attitude

Dedication to helping learners achieve their full potential

Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that it is Newham College’s policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised. However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
