Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role:

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and organised Art & Design Technician to support the delivery, maintenance and development of learning resources and specialist equipment across our vibrant Art & Design Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a creative educational environment, supporting both staff and students across a range of disciplines including 3D Design, Photography, Graphics, Textiles and Fine Art.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our studios, workshops and specialist facilities operate safely and effectively, while helping students develop their creative and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical support for Art & Design lessons, workshops and student projects.

Support screen printing, darkroom photography, laser cutting and 3D printing activities.

Prepare, maintain and safely operate specialist equipment and materials.

Assist staff and students with Adobe Creative Suite and creative technologies.

Maintain safe working practices, including COSHH and Health & Safety compliance.

Set up classrooms, workshops and resources for lessons and exhibitions.

Clean, organise and restock art materials, tools and equipment.

Assist with displays, exhibitions and installation of student artwork.

Maintain inventories, supplier records and departmental resources.

Support educational visits, technical demonstrations and student inductions.

Provide administrative and reprographics support where required.

Promote safeguarding, equality, inclusion and student wellbeing at all times.

Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.

Level 3 qualification in Art & Design or a related subject.

GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent.

Experience working in an Art & Design, workshop or educational environment.

Knowledge of health & safety procedures and COSHH regulations.

Ability to use and maintain specialist art equipment and tools.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop.

Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to support and work positively with students and staff.

Willingness to learn new technologies such as laser cutting and 3D printing.

Enhanced DBS clearance required.
