ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as an Apprenticeship Tutor. In this role, you will deliver and assess Level 2 and Level 3 Apprentices in Autocare and Motorvehicle, supporting apprentices in their development and ensuring the high quality of their learning experience.

We currently offer 24 apprenticeship programmes to over 500 apprentices nationally. Our Engineering and Construction programmes are Hertfordshire based delivering to around 200 apprentices based in the region. The ECC team are a team of 12 delivering apprenticeships in Autocare, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Gas, Carpentry and Electrical Installations.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:

Hart Learning and Development is the business arm of North Hertfordshire College. We deliver Apprenticeships, traineeships and professional qualifications locally, nationally and regionally.

Our Apprenticeships Offer focuses on Health, Business, Motor Vehicle, Construction Trades, management and professional course and provides training to large clients such as John Lewis Partnership and Lloyds Banking Group through to local SMEs. As a team, we employ 50 staff and have an annual turnover of £5,000,000.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out in class (day release) teaching and on site assessing for Autocare and Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships and adult programmes.

• Be actively involved in and support the recruitment, sign-up, induction and initial assessment of learners.

• Promote and hold high expectations of all students and what they can achieve.

• Liaise with employers and apprentices to develop learning and delivery plans that meet the needs, and support timely achievement.

• Support learners to enhance their soft skills and progress within the workplace.

• Contribute to the development and formative assessment of learners to ensure that learning meets individual needs.

• Maintain a safe learning environment, supporting learners in understanding how to keep themselves, and others, safe and notifying management of any risks.

• Deliver outstanding learning and assessment through creative methods.

• Support learners to engage and develop maths and English skills through use of Century.

• Undertake effective progress reviews and set SMART targets with employers and learners to monitor progress and support development and timely achievement.

• Support learners to undertake practical assessments, providing the relevant paperwork and record keeping to comply with awarding body and end-point assessment requirements.

• Ensure full quality compliance with OneFile e-portfolio system to support learners’ timely progress and meet Awarding Body, SFA and Ofsted requirements.

• Liaise with learner support functions, external agencies and parents/carers to ensure that learners make good or better progress.

• Undertake, and support programme colleagues with the administration of delivery.

• Comply with agreed learner retention, attendance and success measure processes.

• Participate in, and drive your own, development activity including achievement of the Award in Education and Training (AET).

• To work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, ensuring the College is a safe environment for staff, students and visitors.

• To promote with staff and students the importance of safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults they are responsible for and come into contact with.

• To work at all times in accordance with North Hertfordshire College’s policies and procedures.

• To carry out such duties as may be required from time to time by the college that are appropriate to the grade of the post
