PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A wide experience at different levels in the Hospitality & Catering Industry and can demonstrate suitable and relevant industry experience in Front of House roles, Back of House roles or both
  • Ability to plan and deliver outstanding catering and hospitality training programmes and workshops.
  • Teacher or coach with demonstrable experience of supporting outstanding teaching and learning and relevant industry experience.
  • A passion for catering and hospitality training and skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students to achieve their full potential and a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Organised with an ability to work towards challenging targets and manage time effectively including budgets and sales targets
  • Highly effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • The necessary skills to observe learners, providing support and guidance to enable them to gain the required qualifications.
  • The experience to know when and how to make interventions to ensure that learner progress is successful and sustainable.
  • High ethical and professional standards with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external clients.
  • An ability to identify and lead with commercial opportunities that increase income.
  • Relevant occupational competence through qualifications and job experience are essential.
  • Recommended GCSE A*-C or equivalent in maths and English.
  • A degree or equivalent industry-based qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Assessment verification qualifications desirable but essential to have a willingness to work towards
  • A sound knowledge of a range of IT applications including online portfolio systems.
  • Hold, or be working towards a relevant teaching qualification such as the Award in Education and Training (AET) or Diploma in Education and Training (DET)

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collective responsibility of elements of Food Safety Management and safe working practices
  • Be actively involved in and support the recruitment, sign-up, induction, and initial assessment of learners.
  • Promote and hold high expectations of all students and what they can achieve.
  • Contribute to the development and formative assessment of learners to ensure that learning meets individual needs.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment, supporting learners in understanding how to keep themselves, and others, safe and notifying management of any risks.
  • Promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, the mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
  • Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment through creative methods.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with students, particularly in respect of their conduct and behaviour
  • Deliver enrichment and enhancement activities, including accompanying students on external visits and residential trips.
  • Undertake effective progress reviews and set SMART targets with learners to monitor progress and support development and achievement.
  • Provide students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Mark and assess students’ work, providing feedback that supports students to improve.
  • Support progress and achievement of all students on your course
  • Champion our Maths and English strategy and embed the development of these in your teaching.
  • Support learners to undertake practical assessments, providing the relevant paperwork and record keeping complying with awarding body and end-point assessment requirements.
  • Where required, quality assure learners’ work as part of the organisation’s internal verification and awarding body regulations.
  • Ensure full compliance with quality processes, support learner progress, and meet Awarding Body, SFA and Ofsted requirements.
  • Liaise with learner support functions, external agencies and parents/carers to ensure that learners make good or better progress.
  • Undertake, and support programme colleagues with the administration of delivery.
  • Use and analyse programme data to support effective course management.
  • Deliver IAG to support students’ decision making and high rates of progression.
  • Comply with agreed learner retention, attendance and success measure processes.
  • Participate in, and drive your own, development activity including achievement of the Award in Education and Training (AET) and/or Diploma in Education and Training (DET) and assessors’ qualification
