Where you’ll work: This role is based at the College’s Dartford campus.

Your hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 52 weeks per annum (1 FTE).

Your pay: Spine Points 32 (£31,794) to 37 (£36,859), rising to a ceiling of Spine Point 40 (£40,287) with a full teaching qualification.

Working within North Kent College’s Media curriculum area, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitability qualified, experienced, and passionate individual to join the team as a Lecturer in Media Studies.

The Media department here at North Kent College has established a high level of creative work across all creative fields to meet industry needs and allow learners to excel into higher education and industry placements. We are looking for innovative, and enthusiastic Media tutors to join a strong team who are committed to providing excellent provision for our students (who can inspire and manage the creative growth of our learners and maximize their full potential). The Media team are part of the Creative Studios directorate with industry-standard facilities including a live and online radio station and TV studio. We have an industry focused ethos within the department, so the ideal candidate will help drive regular interactions with external clients and companies as well as follow a production pipeline which aligns closely with professional practices.

As a Lecturer in Media, you’ll be required to prepare, teach, and assess at a variety of qualification levels, providing support and guidance to your learners as they progress through their studies.

You’ll have specialist knowledge of the curriculum area, which may be enhanced by any relevant industry / professional experience, as well as a formal qualification that underpins this knowledge.

We need you to be a team player and an excellent communicator, able to maintain a proactive approach and an eye for detail whilst working to challenging deadlines.

Teaching experience, particularly within Further Education, would be advantageous but isn’t essential. Likewise, although a full teaching qualification (at Level 5 or above) isn’t required at this stage, you would need to secure this within 3 years of appointment.

In return, we’ll give you 42 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata for part time contracts), and you’ll be enrolled onto the Teachers’ Pension Scheme which also includes life assurance. You’ll also benefit from free parking and have access to a range of onsite facilities including a nursery (Dartford and Gravesend campuses), restaurants and coffee shops.
