Are you a qualified plumber ready to pass on your skills and support others to build a better future?
We’re looking for a Plumbing Vocational Trainer to deliver City & Guilds qualifications up to Level 3 to small groups of prison based learners. You’ll provide hands-on training that develops plumbing expertise alongside employability, digital, and literacy skills — supporting rehabilitation and a pathway to sustainable employment.
This role is ideal for someone who’s passionate about their trade and wants to use it to make a real impact.
What you’ll be doing:
Deliver structured, practical training in plumbing aligned to City & Guilds standards (up to Level 3).
Build learners’ confidence by embedding communication, digital, and problem-solving skills into lessons.
Tailor your approach to suit a range of learning needs, ensuring inclusive and accessible delivery.
Use restorative practice to create a respectful, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Collaborate with prison staff, support services, and external partners to support each learner’s journey.
Promote the course internally to encourage participation and raise awareness of the value of the trade.
Maintain accurate records and ensure all assessments, documentation, and safety practices are up to standard.
What we’re looking for:
Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Plumbing or a related trade.
Teaching or assessor qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
Confidence delivering both theory and practical content to groups.
An understanding of the barriers faced by learners in custody — and the motivation to help overcome them.
Great communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
Previous experience delivering training is ideal, but we’ll support the right person to grow into the role.
Why join us?
A chance to make a difference through purposeful teaching.
Ongoing support to gain teaching and assessing qualifications.
Be part of a close-knit education team making real change every day.
Opportunities for personal and professional growth in a rewarding environment
