At HMP Millsike, we’re looking for a Cover Workshop Facilitator to step in and lead workshops across multiple industries, ensuring that operations continue smoothly during periods of staff absence. This is a key role in maintaining structured, skill-building activities for prisoners, supporting their rehabilitation and future employability.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:
Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
One half-day per week: either 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Internally this role is known as an Industry Cover Instructor
What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead & Train – Deliver practical, hands-on training across manufacturing, cleaning, waste management, and horticulture workshops.
Engage & Motivate – Keep prisoners engaged in purposeful activity, supporting their personal and professional development.
Ensure Safety & Compliance – Conduct risk assessments, maintain tool security, and follow health and safety protocols tailored to each workshop.
Adapt & Problem-Solve – Seamlessly transition between different workshop environments, ensuring continuity and high standards.
Record & Report – Maintain accurate attendance records, track learner progress, and contribute to rehabilitation plans.
What We’re Looking For:
Hands-on experience in a trade, workshop, or vocational training environment (manufacturing, industrial operations, cleaning, waste management, or similar).
Ability to manage and engage groups, ensuring structure, motivation, and discipline in workshop settings.
Strong adaptability skills – able to step into different industries and quickly get up to speed.
Administrative competency – able to log attendance, track outputs, and maintain workshop documentation.
Commitment to safety & compliance – experience working within health & safety and security protocols is desirable.
