The Governing Body of Porthcawl Comprehensive are seeking to appoint for September 2024 a well qualified and motivated teacher of Science specialising in Biology to work within this large and successful faculty who has a firm commitment to teaching and learning.
Collaboration and support are key features of the Biology Department and wider Science Faculty, both share a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the successful delivery of science qualifications and schemes of learning.
The successful candidate will be excited at the opportunity to deliver Biology at all key stages, including Triple Science at GCSE and Biology at AS level. Ideally, the successful candidate would also take shared responsibility for an A2 Biology class.
We’re proud of the commitment our students make to Biology as a subject, where large numbers opt to continue with the discipline until the end of their school career in Year 13, and in many cases to higher education and beyond. There are currently 6 KS5 Biology classes, the subject taught to 3 classes in Year 12 and 3 classes in Year 13, showing exceptional retention. The number of students completing Biology at A2 is amongst the highest in the school.
The school operates an excellent induction and professional development programme. This includes Talk Teaching, Impact Learning and Professional Enquiry. There are regular opportunities for leadership development and school improvement projects annually.
