Queen Mary’s College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, problem-solving, suitably qualified and experienced individual as a Software Developer. The site is set on a beautiful multi-use area in the heart of Basingstoke, covering approximately 25 acres. Its educational facilities range from state-of-the art teaching facilities built in the last few years to buildings that were original to the Shrubbery School first established in the 1950s. The College operates a commercial theatre, Central Studio, and Sports Centre.
The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who can demonstrate their technical experience in this particular field and is enthusiastic at delivering great customer service to tight deadlines. Working in this environment requires good organisational skills, clear and strong communication, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, good attention to detail and an analytical approach to working. The suitable applicant is a person who can work as part of a team and has a clear head working under pressure.
Purpose of Job:
• To significantly contribute to the development of the College’s in-house web-based student information system “Vista”, including enhancements, new features and day to day maintenance.
• To stay informed and knowledgeable of the latest statistical datasets for use in target setting and performance analysis.
• To be proficient in the use of SQL server and reporting tools to support the College’s statutory data returns and internal management reporting.
• To support and develop college modelling tools including timetabling with a high skill level in the Microsoft Office toolset especially Microsoft Excel.
• Maintain, develop and support the core College student records system (Pro-Solution).

Experience:
Essential
• Microsoft Office 2010
• Macro scripting with Visual Basic for Microsoft Office
• Microsoft SQL Server 2012/2016
• Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational databases
• Designing and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Packages
• Web Development using Microsoft Classic ASP (VB), JavaScript and HTML
• Adobe Dreamweaver CS5
• Reporting Writing with Microsoft Reporting Services
• Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
Desirable
• The processes involved in running a large provider of education and training
• The Further Education sector
• School or College administration systems
• Web Development using the Microsoft .NET framework or PHP

Part time, term time 22 hours per week is preferred, but we can be flexible however office cover is required on a Friday and is therefore non-negotiable.
Salary is paid at point 23 of the Sixth Form Colleges Support Staff pay scale, currently £32,755 per annum (37 hrs per week, and full year)
E.g. 22 hrs worked term time amounts to approximately £17,704 per annum
This role is term-time only including 2 additional weeks. It includes paid INSET days, annual leave is included in overall pay and leave is to be taken during the school holiday periods.
Please note with the exception of hospital appointments, routine appointments are expected to be made in your own time.
