Due to an increase in student numbers we’re looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic individuals to contribute to our ongoing success.

At Queen Mary’s College we understand the importance of recruiting skilled and well-qualified staff to maintain excellence in all that we do. We are committed to high-quality, innovative education and student support services and pride ourselves on our welcoming, supportive and friendly environment. We never stand still and our best keeps getting better thanks to the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of our team.

Situated in 23 acres of leafy grounds, Queen Mary’s College is an inclusive, vibrant and high achieving sixth form college with a fantastic reputation both locally and nationally. Value added data places us in the top 10% of all A- level providers.

Art, Craft & Design sits within the Creative Arts and Technologies Department, which is a thriving and dynamic area catering for over 500 students studying a range of A-level, vocational and enrichment courses in Art, Media & Esports. Staff have high expectations of all students and working relationships are positive and supportive. There is an excellent record of student achievement on all courses. Staff work closely together in planning the delivery of courses, developing teaching materials and exchanging ideas, resources and teaching strategies. The department values an approach to teaching art which focuses on developing individuals’ skills and ideas as well as encouraging them to see their work in a professional context; our students benefit from having their work celebrated in exhibitions both in college and in the town as well as being entered into national exhibitions

The art courses currently offered by the department include:

A Level Art, Craft and Design

A Level Fine Art

A Level Graphic Communication

A Level Textiles

A Level Photography

L3 Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Art and Design (vocational)

The department has benefited from substantial investment across all areas and is based in purpose-built accommodation in the Allen Building. It is well equipped with specialist rooms and equipment including a darkroom, kilns, screen-printing facilities, printing presses, a laser cutter and a risograph printer, studios for photography, graphics, fashion, textiles, ceramics and drawing & painting and multimedia suites of computers with access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Innovation in teaching approaches is very much welcomed and supported.

The aim of the department is to enrich the learning experience of our students by delivering the syllabus in a manner which is contemporary, varied and challenging. The Department benefits from its interdisciplinary approach which encourages cross-department collaborative learning.

Wherever possible, we can offer flexibility in the subjects to be taught, taking into account your personal experience, skills and preferences. As a Personal Tutor, you will also motivate, monitor, support and guide students’ academic progress through regular one-to-one consultations.

Our priorities are to maintain and extend our success in this thriving department and to maintain high levels of student satisfaction and achievement. We seek to ensure that we provide students with a high-quality experience of learning that is innovative, interesting and challenging and helps them acquire the skills and knowledge essential for their progression. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher to join our outstanding team and be part of our friendly and supportive environment.
