Due to an increase in student numbers we’re looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic individuals to contribute to our ongoing success.

At Queen Mary’s College we understand the importance of recruiting skilled and well-qualified staff to maintain excellence in all that we do. We are committed to high-quality, innovative education and student support services and pride ourselves on our welcoming, supportive and friendly environment. We never stand still and our best keeps getting better thanks to the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of our team.

Situated in 23 acres of leafy grounds, Queen Mary’s College is an inclusive, vibrant and high achieving sixth form college with a fantastic reputation both locally and nationally. Value added data places us in the top 10% of all A- level providers.

The Science Department forms one of the College’s largest and most successful departments and is based in a purpose built £13 million building which has been designed for A Level classes and enables the co-operative and enquiring style of learning that exists within the College. Our facilities were designed with the full consultation of staff to ensure that it is a first-class place to work, with an attractive outlook. It offers excellent teaching accommodation with dedicated preparation and project areas for the individual Science subjects. The staff workroom provides a focus for the science team, allowing for the co-operative and supportive style of working that exists within the area. At present the Science Department comprises six full-time teachers, eight part-time teachers and an excellent team of specialist technicians.

We offer A Level Physics to a current year group of around 60 first year and 50 second year students. We teach the AQA Physics specification and have delivered the Engineering optional unit in recent years. There has long been an understanding in the department that the development of our learners continues outside the classroom. Through the exciting and varied offer of enrichment activities and wider-experiences available, learners in the department get specialist support (Medics/Vets programme, Oxbridge/University preparation), interact and learn from professionals in industry (STEM talks programme, STEM sellers, STEM mentoring, trips), have opportunities to stretch themselves (Perspectives on Science EPQ, Olympiads and other competitions) and can undertake fun and exciting projects (Robotics team, Dissection club, Post-Apocalyptic Chemistry enrichment). All these experiences (and many more), make the department an exciting place to study where students gain transferrable skills that increase their chances of succeeding in their chosen career. In short, we aim to keep Physics flourishing at Queen Mary’s College.

Our priorities are to maintain and extend our examination success and to maintain high levels of student satisfaction and achievement. We seek to ensure that we provide students with a high-quality experience of learning that is innovative, interesting and challenging and helps them acquire the skills and knowledge essential for their progression. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher to join our outstanding team and be part of our friendly and supportive environment.
