About this Role

Queen Elizabeth's School is recruiting for a Teacher of Drama (12 Month Maternity Cover)

To Start: September 2024

Are you a dedicated and passionate teacher of Drama, keen to motivate and inspire students studying Drama and Performing Arts? If so we would love to hear from you!

Opportunity

Queen Elizabeth’s School is currently recruiting for a Teacher of Drama for our thriving Drama department.

The department is very well resourced and offers LAMDA and Arts Awards as part of the sixth form enrichment curriculum. The department runs many events and showcases throughout the year including National Connections, and a large annual whole school Musical. We have close links with our middle schools in the area to further students exposure to the performing arts.

All students in Year 9 undertake two hours of Drama over a two week cycle. Students can choose Drama at GCSE and then they can opt for Theatre Studies and BTEC Performing Arts (National Diploma or Extended Certificate) at KS5.

The post would equally suit an Early Career or experienced teacher.

The post includes:

  • High quality students who enjoy studying Drama and perform very strongly
  • The opportunity to join a dedicated team of supportive and friendly teachers
  • High Sixth Form take up
  • Opportunities to teach across all Key Stages
  • Drama Specific CPD
  • Opportunities to take part in many extra-curricular activities and theatre trips

We are looking for someone who has the ability to:

  • Adapt their teaching to support learning.
  • Apply a variety of skills to effectively motivate students.
  • Assess students, use AfL effectively and plan accordingly
  • Implement strategies to support high levels of behaviour
  • Build positive and productive professional relationships with parents and other stakeholders
  • Work effectively as a member of a team

Ideally, you will have previous experience teaching Drama in a secondary school.

Please refer to the attached job description for more details about the role.
