Technician – Animal Management and Land Based Studies

The Role
As one of our technicians your role is to be responsible for the welfare and health of the college’s animal collection.
You will be responsible for the supervision of learners during practical sessions and learners on work experience and you will ensure our animals are provided with full year-round care and any cover arrangements. (This includes weekends and holiday periods). This role will also support our new commercial animal experience and animal party activities. These experiences are scheduled primarily at weekends and require dedicated staff to oversee animal welfare, manage visitor interactions, and ensure activities run safely and professionally.
You will assist the Lead Technician in managing stock control for animal and land-based resources and ensure the safe preparation and setting out of equipment and materials for practical work and demonstrations within the curriculum area.
You will…
You will have experience of working within an animal establishment with a range of different species including small rodents and reptiles. You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake).

Department Info
As a technician you will report to the Curriculum Team Leader but will be supervised on a day-to-day basis by our Lead Technician. You will work closely with other staff within the Curriculum Area such as Lecturers, Industry Skills Coach and Curriculum Manager.
