We are expanding and there is an exciting new opportunity to become an Estate skills instructor based in our Animal Health and Welfare Research Centre (AHWRC)
Working Pattern: Full time (37hrs per week) or would consider substantial Part time (min 30hrs per week)
Salary: Up to £26,952 per annum (dependent upon qualifications and experience)
Location: Sparsholt Campus (Winchester)
The Role: The College is seeking a highly motivated individual to teach and assess practical hard and soft landscape skills to groups of mixed ability students as part of their animal management course.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop your teaching expertise and educate the next generation of animal carers in areas such as construction, maintenance and repair of boundaries, structures and surfaces, health and safety and animal enclosure maintenance, for their Estate skills module.
You will be expected to deliver exceptional practical teaching using a range of equipment as well as contributing to the landscape management of the zoo and companion animal site.
As an instructor you will be working at the Animal Health Welfare And Research Centre (AHWRC) so will also have input into animal enclosure design, enrichment items and landscaping of the whole zoo and companion animal site. We are looking to increase biodiversity in the area and are keen for your input into how we can achieve this. You will also have co-responsibility for a workshop to include tool and equipment maintenance.
We welcome applicants who have general construction, landscaping and habitat management skills, and who have some supervisory or teaching experience. A qualification in a relevant subject at National Diploma level or higher is desirable. The ideal post holder will also hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to attain one.
