At Sparsholt College we are launching a new People Services Team to help deliver an outstanding employee experience and this is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team at the start of an exciting journey. We are investing in our people services team, modernising our systems and processes, and creating a more strategic, customer-focused approach to supporting our staff and their wellbeing
As we build our new People Services function, we are recruiting for a number of roles that will play a key part in shaping how we attract, support, develop and retain talent
The Role
The People Services Advisor will support the Head of People Services Delivery to provide an outstanding people focused service and is responsible for providing a high quality and professional advisory support to managers and staff across the college. Working closely with managers you’ll provide the support, guidance and expertise needed to resolve all people related matters and to progress our people initiatives.
You will be working across the employee lifecycle, from hire to retire, and you will need to be flexible in the tasks which are undertaken as part of your role. Activities will range across managing formal and informal employee relations cases, supporting managers to resolve staffing issues and the onboarding of new colleagues.
You will also take ownership for all recruitment activity across your assigned area of the business, including design and management of campaigns, candidate liaison, design and participate in selection activities providing expert advice to ensure fair and inclusive practice in recruitment.
The role plays a key part in delivering the College's People Strategy and supporting our ambition to attract, develop and retain a talented, engaged and high-performing workforce and is critical in ensuring that an essential service within the college is operating efficiently, listening to its users and delivering compliant people practices.

How you will contribute:
• Support the design, production and delivery of all local guidance resources, training and 1-2-1 support to line managers to help to develop their general people management skills and technical knowledge across the employee life cycle and to continually enhance their understanding of policies, procedures and best practice.
• Support managers to implement early interventions and monitoring steps in relation to staff attendance, performance concerns and staff conduct. This is to include support through both formal and informal disciplinary steps
• Support Managers with investigations, disciplinary, capability, performance, absence management and grievance matters (up to and including dismissal), working to upskill managers in their approach to leading on complex cases
• To proactively and efficiently manage all recruitment campaigns (including to management roles) within a designated area of the business to ensure the college is recruiting and selecting the best candidates
• Advise and guide hiring managers on the most appropriate and effective attraction and selection strategies (including appropriate media) to reach target applicant groups and to identify the most suitable candidate.
• Monitor best practice in delivery of people and employment activity to enable the college to remain compliant with legislative requirements, internal guidelines and external best practice
• Work closely with the Occupational Health provider to make referrals as needed and effectively manage cases including workplace adjustments, redeployment, long term absence, ill health, alternative duties and exit from the business on capability grounds if appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, compliant and confidential employee records
• Full compliance with employment legislation, GDPR and Sponsor Licence requirements
Essential
• Professionally qualified (CIPD)
• Minimum of two years of experience in a HR/People Services role
• Proven track record supporting managers
• Experience of working on employee relations cases
• Familiarity with all elements of the administration of all stages of the employee lifecycle
• Strong employment legislation knowledge and practical application
• Excellent influencing, negotiation, communication skills
