About the Role✨
Andover College is seeking an experienced and values-driven Curriculum Leader for Level 1 and Alternative Provision to lead and develop our Level 1 curriculum offer for young people, including programmes such as GROWTH (gaining, resilience, opportunities, work experience, transition and hope).
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for learners who often arrive at college with complex educational journeys, including disrupted schooling, additional learning needs, mental health challenges, and adverse life experiences. The successful candidate will lead provision that is inclusive, trauma-informed, relational and aspirational, ensuring students are supported to re-engage with learning and progress successfully.
You will have oversight of all Level 1 programmes, including vocational pathways and alternative provision designed to re-engage young people through practical, purposeful learning.
Key Responsibilities 📈💡
You will:
• Provide strategic and operational leadership for all Level 1 provision
• Lead the development and delivery of alternative programmes such as GROWTH, ensuring they meet the needs of learners who may not thrive in traditional classroom settings
• Embed trauma-informed, relational practice across curriculum delivery, behaviour approaches and student support
• Lead, support and develop a team of lecturers and support staff
• Ensure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment through effective quality assurance processes
• Work collaboratively with Wellbeing, ALS, safeguarding and external agencies to provide joined-up support for students
• Ensure clear progression pathways into further education, training or employment
• Contribute to self-assessment, quality improvement planning and curriculum innovation
About You 🌟
We are looking for a leader who:
- 🎓Holds a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent), or is willing to work towards one
- 📚Has experience of curriculum leadership within Further Education or a related setting
- 💛Has a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice, inclusion and relational approaches to learning
- 🤝Has experience working with young people who may have SEND, SEMH needs, or complex personal circumstances
- 🚀Is confident leading change, supporting staff development and maintaining high expectations alongside care and compassion
- 💬Communicates effectively with students, families, staff and external partners
