We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and inspiring individual to join our Higher Education (HE) Animal Management team as a Lecturer in Animal Management - behaviour interest. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of future animal behaviour and welfare professionals while working in a supportive, innovative, and student-centred environment.
About the role:✨
As a Lecturer within the HE Animal Management and Science department, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and academic support to undergraduate students. Working closely with colleagues, course teams, and academic managers, you will help ensure an outstanding student experience and contribute to the continued development of our higher education provision.
The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in animal behaviour, training, welfare, and human-animal interactions, alongside a broader understanding of animal management principles.
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering engaging and innovative teaching across a range of undergraduate animal management and animal behaviour modules.
• Supporting students in the development of academic, practical, and professional skills.
• Supervising student research projects and providing academic guidance and pastoral support.
• Contributing to curriculum development, assessment design, and quality assurance processes.
• Promoting evidence-based approaches to animal behaviour, training, welfare, and management.
• Supporting students' employability and progression through the development of industry-relevant knowledge and skills.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to enhance the student learning experience.
The post holder should ideally be educated to master’s level in a relevant subject area or have equivalent experience within industry or animal welfare education.
The post holder will ideally hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to attain this qualification through study provided by Sparsholt. All staff will engage in CPD and scholarly activity, and there are opportunities for personal development appropriate to the role.
