Lecturer in Foundation Learning (severe learning difficulties)

  • đź•’ Working Pattern: Full time (37 hrs per week, 52 weeks per year) or part time available (22.5 hrs per week)

Andover College is looking for a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in Foundation Learning, specialising in working with students with severe learning difficulties and additional needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented and supportive team delivering a learner-centred curriculum designed to support students to make positive progress, build confidence, and prepare for adulthood. You will work with a group of learners with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and/or with severe or complex learning needs, helping them to develop skills for independence, employability, and community participation.


What you will do: 🎓

As a Lecturer in Foundation Learning you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching and learning sessions
  • Support students with diverse needs, using creative and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Contribute to personalised learner plans, review progress and set meaningful goals
  • Build positive and productive relationships with students, families and external agencies
  • Promote a safe, supportive and trauma-informed learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with keyworkers, support teams and vocational staff
  • Work collaboratively with specialists such as OTs and Physios on student programmes


We are looking for someone who:đź’«

• Has a relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert. Ed, DTLLS/DTLLS) or is willing to work towards it

• Holds a grade C/4 in English and maths at GCSE level (or equivalent)

• Has experience or enthusiasm for teaching learners with severe learning difficulties, SEND or complex needs

• Understands how to build positive relationships and adapt learning to individual strengths

• Is able to work creatively with a range of professionals to support learner outcomes
