We are seeking a Student Safety Engagement Officer to join our team!
Working Pattern : Full time (37hrs per week) and 52 weeks per year
Salary: up to £29, 163 (dependant on qualifications and experience)
Location: Sparsholt Campus (Winchester)
The Role: You will be supporting us to create a safe and secure environment for student and staff, a place which feels
welcoming and secure for everyone. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring that our student, staff and visitors
are safe and have a positive experience whilst on the Sparsholt campus.
On a daily basis you will be interacting with students and staff, using dynamic problem-solving skills to manage a wide variety of incidents and events. This will involve internal liaison with academic, pastoral, wellbeing and premises teams, and external liaison with relevant outside bodies where necessary.
We are seeking to appoint a confident individual with excellent communication skills, and ideally with previous experience of working with students or young adults. Also required is to have experience and undertake regular training in negotiation, de-escalation and restraint techniques. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, and the ideal candidate will be able to remain calm under pressure, prioritise tasks effectively and take all necessary steps to safeguard our students and staff.
• Manage student behaviour and de-escalate challenging situations ensuring a safe and positive environment for everyone
• Engage with students to identify support needs and build constructive relationships to promote student wellbeing and full participation in college planned activities
• Support to manage safety and security protocols on campus, including ID card/ lanyard checks, traffic control checks, monitoring of CCTV and stop and search procedures
• Supporting safeguarding and health and safety protocols, including assisting with first aid and emergency procedures
• To refer matters relating to student welfare or discipline to the relevant team to follow up
