Drum Teacher – Visiting Music Teacher (VMT)
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-qualified visiting music drum teacher who is an excellent practitioner in their field. Drumming is highly popular at St John’s; we have a number of students taking drum kit lessons, and taking formal graded examinations.
The successful candidate should have experience of preparing students for Rock School. Students are extremely enthusiastic about their music lessons and enjoy a wide range of repertoire; the two annual rock concerts are hugely popular and several bands are run by members of staff but kit players also engage in the Swing Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band and Lower School Ensemble.
Drums are highly popular at St John’s and we anticipate over 30 pupils could require lessons across 30 weeks of the academic year. This could be split between two teachers to offer two individual days and can be discussed further at interview.
Closing Date: 9.00am, Friday 26 April 2024
Interviews date will be held week commencing 29 April 2024
Interviews may occur at any stage after applications are received. We reserve the right to appoint at any time in the recruitment process and therefore invite interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
St John’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted candidates and all applications will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application. The job holder should be aware of their responsibilities for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons who they may come into contact with whilst at St John’s. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
