We seek to appoint an Attendance Officer for our College based in Twickenham.
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: 36 hours per week (8am- 4pm) with some flexibility over hours. Some holiday working may be required but term time only can be requested for the right candidate.
The Attendance Officer will be part of a committed and enthusiastic team of support staff and will be responsible for coordinating the administration of attendance to improve attendance rates and achieve the highest standard of educational achievement possible.
You may have experience working in attendance and schools more generally, you may currently or have been a teacher and see this as an interesting way to continue in a school but balance your commitments. You may be a Learning Support Assistant who wants to take the next step in your career.
We are open-minded as to who could be the best fit for this role and are interested in a variety of transferable experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and sustaining relationships with students and their families so that issues affecting attendance/punctuality are dealt with in the most effective way possible
- Timely and accurate record keeping of attendance on the College’s School Information Management System (currently SIMS with planned move to Arbor January 2025)
- Identifying attendance issues and patterns of absence/late arrivals and follow up as necessary
- Assisting with data collections and updates of student data on information systems
- Work in accordance with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and data protection
- Reporting of attendance data to relevant stakeholders
- First point of contact within the College Student Services office assisting students as necessary
- Other administrative duties as directed
You will have:
- Awareness and understanding of Safeguarding within schools
- Previous relevant experience, preferably within a school or working with children, or eagerness to learn
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload
- Excellent communication skills
- A friendly, approachable demeanour with an adaptable and flexible outlook, with a willingness to work overtime and be available for emergency call outs, where required
- Excellent time-keeping and a responsible, reliable and mature attitude towards work
- A willingness to learn and develop
