We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed candidate to join our primary school as a Learning Support Assistant providing 1:1 support. We would welcome applications from those who have experience working with pupils with a visual impairment.

The successful candidate may already be experienced in supporting children with visual impairments or be willing to undertake training to support them in this role. This post is linked to High Needs Funding and is therefore initially until 31 August 2025 and may be extended for the duration of the pupil’s attendance in our primary school.

The role will include:

  • Assisting the pupil to increase their independence as a learner
  • Working in partnership with the teacher to adapt resources and teaching materials as necessary so that the pupil is able to access the lesson and achieve their objectives as independently as possible
  • Supporting the pupil to have opportunities to participate in all school activities, to make choices and take decisions for themselves
  • Supporting with the health and safety needs of the pupil
  • Implementation of strategies and interventions outlined in the pupil’s Education Health Care Plan
  • Attendance of relevant training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge

While we ask you to support our Catholic ethos, being a practising Catholic is not a requirement, we welcome applicants from any background.

Please note that applications will be considered as they are received and you are therefore advised to submit your application as early as possible, as some interviews may take place, and an appointment may be made, before the closing date is reached for these positions.
