Are you passionate about Art and Design and looking for your next exciting opportunity?

We are seeking to appoint Workshop Technician / Artist in Residence on a part time, term time basis to start in April 2023 at our Strode’s College campus.

The Role and You

The Art and Design curriculum area is a popular and successful part of the college. It has approximately 150 students studying a range of subjects including A Levels in Fine Art and Photography, Graphics Communications and 3D Design as well as Level 3 BTECs in Photography and Art and Design. The Department benefits from accommodation including a dark room, a 3D workshop (including a brand new laser cutter) and a separate kiln room.

The successful applicant to this position will work to support the teaching staff in the curriculum area principally through supporting workshop activities, preparation of materials for practical activities and coursework. You will also take a key role in managing stock and the sale of materials to students as well as assisting with creating and maintaining displays of students’ work around the College. In addition to supporting the academic progress of our young learners, the college will also offer the successful candidate free access to the 3D workshop space, thus becoming an Artist in Residence. The workshop includes a laser cutter, milling machines, lathes, welding equipment, band and circular saws and an array of electric and non-electric hand tools.

This post offers the successful applicant the opportunity to support the work of Art & Design team.

Please note that this is a part time role for around 15 hours per week, term time for 39 weeks per year.

This is an opportunity for a passionate individual who wishes to work in a truly stimulating and rewarding environment.
