ABOUT THE ROLE

The Health Care Assessor is responsible for the quality delivery of teaching, learning and assessment within the health and social care department. This will include working with health care apprentices, assessing BTEC students in work placement, supporting the delivery of the health care support worker academy and pre-employment courses.

The post holder will work within a well-established team which is growing due to popularity and demand. The college has excellent links with the NHS and the wider health and social care sector and works closely with colleagues from the Integrated Care System.

A key role is to work to develop programme plans, create resources, deliver content, assess student work, assess in the workplace, be involved the internal quality assurance and to work as part of the diverse team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with others to design courses in health and social care, including apprenticeships.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure student achievement and success.
  • Assess students in the workplace.
  • Ensure there is continuous improvement in the Teaching, Learning and Assessment experience of candidates, including ‘stretch and challenge’, English/Maths and EDI.
  • Maintain an electronic diary, identifying companies, activities, start and finish times on each day.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

Qualifications and training

  • Hold an Assessors qualification (A1 or equivalent) or be willing to work towards.
  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in Maths and English or a willingness to attain these qualifications with the support of the College in the first year of employment

Skills and expertise

  • Ability to lead on the delivery of Apprenticeship programmes
  • An imaginative and forward-looking approach towards the delivery of New Standards, Gateway requirements and End Point Assessment.
