The Governing Body of Croesyceiliog School is seeking to appoint an exceptional, innovative and inspirational Headteacher from January 2027 who will build on the school’s recent progress and lead the next phase of its development. The successful candidate will inspire our enthusiastic and experienced Senior Leadership Team, dedicated teachers and highly effective support staff.

Croesyceiliog School has undergone significant and successful change in recent years, including moving into a state‑of‑the‑art building. The school has successfully developed a clear, shared vision for its curriculum, designed in close consultation with pupils, parents and partners, ensuring learning is relevant, inclusive and ambitious for all. Following a full staffing change management process the school has successfully secured clear lines of accountability and has robust self evaluation processes to ensure the school continues to make progress against it’s priorities.

The school’s most recent Estyn inspection recognised positive relationships as a notable strength of the school, highlighting the strong culture of respect, trust and collaboration across the community. It was also noted that leaders prioritise staff and pupil wellbeing successfully, ensuring a supportive environment in which learners and staff can thrive.

We are seeking a committed and aspirational leader who can build on this strong foundation, further develop the learning offer for learners of all abilities and enable every young person to achieve their aspirations and beyond. The Governing Body places no limits on ambition for the school or its learners and is committed to broadening horizons and opportunities for all members of our community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational and ambitious leader who is excited by the challenge of leading Croesyceiliog School on its journey to excellence.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A highly successful, enthusiastic and experienced senior leader with a proven track record with the strength of character and resilience
  • A forward thinking, innovative and creative practitioner, up to date with Curriculum 4 Wales and evidence- based thinking and practice
  • Passionate about providing the best educational opportunities for all our pupils with a clear focus on advancing effective teaching and learning
  • An excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills
  • A coach and mentor to staff and other professionals
  • Committed to continuing the established and successful partnerships with pupils, staff, parents, governors, other outside agencies and the wider community
  • A leader with high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour
  • Committed to promoting the wellbeing of all members of the school community
  • Building teams and providing opportunities for professional growth.

We can offer you:

  • A superb opportunity to work with a community of enthusiastic pupils, committed staff, supportive parents and an experienced and well-informed governing body
  • A strong team of highly dedicated, motivated and supportive colleagues
  • A school with strong leadership capacity
  • A state of the art learning facility
  • A happy, supportive and welcoming school with strong links with the wider community
  • A school where the success of all pupils matters
  • A school where pupil and staff well-being and self-respect is paramount
  • A school where learning is central to everything that we do.
