We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual to support students with specific learning difficulties and disabilities and oversee the daily operations of our small student shop, based at Uxbridge College. The shop stocks a range of stationery items for students and staff, and also sells products created by students themselves. Working as part of the Foundation Studies team, you will co-ordinate activities and provide support and supervision of students with specific learning difficulties and disabilities within the learning environment of the College.
Working 9am - 3pm, duties of the role will include:
• Ensuring coverage of opening and closing of the shop, and daily operations
• Carrying out training of shop procedures and product creation with students and staff
• Keeping accounts for cash flow, banking with finance department, receiving and recording shop deliveries
• Supporting students with aspects of their behaviour whilst in the shop
• Liaising with teaching staff and other Learning Support Assistants to ensure good communication concerning the individual needs and progress of students and making notes on student’s progress towards their outcomes and targets
We are seeking a candidate who can demonstrate:
• Experience of supporting people with learning difficulties/ disabilities and/or challenging behaviour
• Ability to engage, support and motivate students effectively
• Good organisational skills and experience with Microsoft Office software
• An understanding of and commitment to Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding within education
Please note: for individuals who start a term time only role after 1st September, the salary will be pro-rated from the start date to the end of this academic year (31st August 2026). This ensures that the correct entitlement to pay and holiday pay relative to the portion of the year worked. This will be paid in equal monthly instalments until 31 August.
