Welcome to the The Hive College career site

We are searching for the best education professionals

A message from our principal

Mrs Kim Everton

I  am delighted to welcome you to the Hive College careers website.

The Hive is a further education college where we focus on preparing our students for adulthood and ensure that all our students make outstanding progress and transition to their chosen destinations such as employment, volunteering roles and community participation. We aim to support them all to do their very best, enjoy college life and to develop important qualities such as respecting, understanding and helping each other.

We have high expectations for our students and have created an environment in which each individual is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

I started at the college in 2013 with 10 students and a few staff. In September 2021 we will have approximately 108 students and over 50 staff. As the college has grown in numbers over the years we have developed our facilities and curriculum accordingly to be able to offer study programmes to suit each individual learner.

We have outstanding relationships with our local community, schools and businesses which provides many opportunities for our students to be able to take their place in society. We are a very friendly college a look forward to welcoming new staff to be part of our amazing team of professional and caring people.

For further information about our college, please visit our college website, www.hivecollege.org.uk. We hope you find the information interesting and informative, but if you would like further information please contact the college by telephone or email.

The Hive is genuinely a wonderful place to work. No two days are the same, and each day I feel challenged, motivated and inspired. I feel very lucky to work with truly amazing students - they are unique, motivating and full of personality. Since I joined the Hive I have felt more supported than I ever have in my career before, and have had the opportunities to progress in my career and reach my own personal goals. It’s a wonderful feeling to come to work and be a part of something where there is so much inspiration, positivity and togetherness between SLT, staff and students alike.

I started with the Hive College on 4th January, just as the latest lockdown was announced. Despite there being a skeleton staff on site I never once felt alone or unsupported. There is always someone to ask a question of, everyone has been really welcoming and it's fair to say The Hive is a friendly environment and a really nice place to work. The students are a great bunch and there is always laughter and happiness every day.

I joined The Hive College in August 2020 as Placement Coordinator and I haven't regretted it for a second! The students are a delight to work with and the sense of achievement on seeing them move into paid employment is incredible. I have been extremely well supported and already feel a part of the college family. If you are looking for a new position that will bring you job satisfaction along with a lot of laughs, then look no further.

I started at the Hive College back in September 2020, which was through an employment agency as a ad-hoc Teaching Assistant. I can honestly say that on my first day all the staff from the College Principal to the lunchtime care assistants made me feel so welcome and comfortable. I was very fortunate that on my first week within the college a job opportunity became available. I applied for the position and was successful. I have gained additional knowledge, skills and experience since working here which has been very valuable to my role. I am very happy within my role and look forward what each day brings working alongside the students. I thrive to give my best and enjoy seeing each student achieve their individual targets and goals in life.
