Primarily focused on the supervision of invigilators, access arrangements and student examinations, this position is for 20 hours a week, working mainly during term-time.
St Peter’s Catholic School is looking to appoint an efficient and organised individual to join our Exams team. The Exams Assistant works closely with the Exams Coordinator primarily focused on the management and supervision of invigilators and access arrangements. There will be times through the school year that will be particularly busy and so would require flexibility in working hours to help support the delivery of the exam calendar.
Job Overview:
- Assist in the management of a team involved in contributing to the work of the examinations department
- Assist in ensuring all aspects of public examinations run effectively in line with School, Examination Board and Qualification and Joint Council for Qualification requirements.
- Assist in the management of the daily running of external & internal examinations including all required materials and ensuring access arrangements are in place.
- Disseminate information, answer enquiries regarding public examinations to and from staff, students and parents/carers and awarding bodies.
- Check, collate and distribute examination certificates.
- Assist in the development of an examination timetable, as soon as is practicable, in order to determine issues related to invigilation, clashes, study leave, staff planning and organising venues.
- Assist in the resolution of examination clashes in accordance with regulations.
- Collect, sort, package and dispatch worked scripts in accordance with the regulations.
- Assist in the administration of examination results in August and other times during the year.
- Manage all access arrangements within the exam environment
- To allocate invigilators and manage their timetable during all examination periods.
- To contribute to relevant staff meetings/working parties as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A good level of education including GCSE Maths and English
- Excellent IT and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to build sound relationships with customers, adapting styles to different situations.
- High level administrative/organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a range of projects through to completion.
- Previous experience of working in a busy office, ideally in a school environment.
- A desire and ability to produce detailed and accurate work.
- Excellent ability to plan, prioritise and balance conflicting demands whilst working under pressure and tight timescales.

Details
The normal hours will be 20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. Days and times are flexible and will be confirmed at interview. Hours are mainly term-time, although there will be a requirement to work some hours during the summer holiday in preparation for exam results days. Lunch breaks during your working day will be unpaid.
Salary: Surrey Pay Scale PS5 - £24,977 to £26,886 FTE, actual salary - £11,937 to £12,849

Please Note
During test weeks and formal exam season there will be a requirement to work additional hours, which may be full time, so flexibility and availability to work additional hours is a must in this position. Additional hours worked will be paid as overtime.
