We are seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Year 10 student on a part time, fixed term basis for the academic year 2023-2024 with reviews on an annual basis. The role will involve supporting the student in class under the direction of the subject teacher, and supporting the student with small group and 1:1 activities under the direction of the SENCo. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills; can build strong relationships with pupils and staff; is flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic; and who is able to work collaboratively as part of a team. The position is for 30 hours per week, term time only - timetable TBC.
Requirements
The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working with students needing support with differentiating and moderating the curriculum within the classroom and in delivering interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support learning in class clarifying and explaining instructions and activities and modifying/differentiating learning where necessary.
- Focus support on areas of need in order to carry out appropriate intervention and provision in class to support understanding and progress.
- Liaise regularly with class teachers and the SENCo in order to ensure the appropriate provision is in place and to update targets.
- Liaise regularly with the pupil’s parents to support them with their school experience.
- Liaise with class teachers with regard to progress, problems and work of the individual student.
- Assist teaching staff in the development of learning strategies by the preparation of resources and maintaining a safe and suitable learning environment.
- Deliver specific programs of support to the individual.
- Promote and reinforce student’s self-esteem, appropriate behaviour, levels of effort and guide the student to becoming an independent learner.
- Participate, as required, in meetings with colleagues and parents in respect of the duties of the post.
- Monitor and evaluate programmes of work weekly.
- Have a flexible approach to time management in order to respond to changes in timetables and additional work commitments.
- Liaise with outside agencies with regard to the learning needs of the student, where appropriate.
- Help maintain, monitor and develop the resources.
