Animal Education Centre Technician
1 x Ectotherm Technician ( Full Time, Permanent, All year around)
The College is seeking to appoint a full-time Animal Education Centre Technician to help develop the College’s expanding Animal Education Centre.
The key responsibilities of the role are developing and maintaining the highest standards of husbandry and animal welfare as well as the direct supervision of student groups during their practical sessions and skills development. You will be responsible for the day-to-day care and husbandry of the reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrate species housed at the AEC. The section is part of our zoo licensed and BIAZA accredited collection that is currently being redeveloped, including the addition of a nocturnal room. It consists of approximately 65 species including a blue tailed monitor lizard, giant asian river toads, rough green snakes and Lake Titicaca frogs.
As an AEC technician you must have a forward thinking and progressive approach to animal welfare, training and enrichment. You will be expected to have proven knowledge and experience of working with a range of species with enthusiasm to pass onto our students.
An important element of the role is ensuring that the student experience is both positive and rewarding. To meet this aim it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality support to our learners.
