Apprenticeship and Commercial Manager (Business and Service Sectors). APCO. Full Time. Permanent.
We are one of the largest Further Education Colleges in the UK with more than 20,000 students studying with us on a broad range of courses. Our mission is to ‘equip people with the skills they need to be successful in education, in work and business and in their personal lives’.
This is one of three new posts, reporting to the Director of Apprenticeships and Commercial, created as a result of a restructuring of management roles to support the continuing growth in apprenticeships. The Apprenticeship and Commercial curriculum area is one of the largest in the College, with income targets in excess of £5 million as it rapidly transitions from frameworks to standards.
You will lead employer-based provision in the Business and Service sectors, managing a team of Apprentice Leads and Trainer Assessors with a strong focus on quality, as well as building apprenticeship income. Your remit will include the management of commercial activity alongside the curriculum offer.
A key aspect of the role will be providing coaching and supporting staff to enhance the quality of provision and raise the achievement rates of our apprentices.
With vision and drive, coupled with strong communication and people skills, you will be comfortable working with managers and staff across the College as well as employers and other stakeholders. Working in a demanding business environment, you must have a ‘can do’ attitude, focussed on the needs of the student and employer, and the effective and efficient delivery of apprenticeship programmes.
You will have a degree or equivalent, together with a background working within the Business and Service sectors, including leading a team. Ideally you will have managed employer based programmes and apprenticeships across one or more of the areas of Business, Computing or the Service Sectors, eg Hairdressing, from intermediate apprenticeships (Frameworks and Standards) up to and including Higher Level Apprenticeships.
You will also have the ability to teach across one of the programme areas, either the underpinning academic skills related to the curriculum offer, or practical occupational competency and knowledge.
