This is an outstanding opportunity to join the exciting and inspirational Beechwood College, and to play a crucial role in the continued success and development of Wales’ first specialist residential college dedicated to providing Further Education to students over the age of 16 who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex needs and/or difficulties associated difficulties relating to the triad of impairments.
Beechwood College is a two-part service that operates with one vision; to enrich the lives of all young people and adults, promoting lifelong learning and skill development that will equip them with essential skills for life. Registered as an independent Further Education College and Care Home for Younger Adults, Beechwood College is located within a small village of Sully, Vale of Glamorgan, on the outskirts of Cardiff and is designed to provide specialist education and residential services for up to 57 young people and adults, with a capacity for an additional 20 day students.
Since its creation in 2004 the College has undergone a number of very successful Annual Monitoring Visits and inspections by Estyn and CSSIW; with the most recent being February 2019. As a service, Beechwood College continues to build upon prior success and prides itself on being a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for young people and adults with complex needs.
Within this newly created role we are seeking to recruit a candidate with relevant management experience within an education setting who has the personal skills and characteristics to motivate and inspire others to promote a proactive, forward-thinking and inspirational approach to promoting the educational needs of others.
Working as a member of the management team you will be the appointed ‘deputy’ to the Principal and therefore be responsible for supporting the smooth delivery of all of the operational needs of the college’s educational services, as set out by the Senior Leadership Team.
You will play an active role in supporting the planning, development and delivery of systems and processes which ensure that education across the college is efficiently managed and developed. Through this you will seek to address the individual needs of our young people and adults through the delivery of best practice models of inclusive further education. You will play an active role within quality assurance processes that include lesson observations and data analysis. With supplementary support and guidance from the Director of Service and Clinical Team, you will work alongside the Residential managers, whilst being primarily responsible for the tasks relating to;

Vocation & Work Skills;
Staff Allocations;
Tutor Group / Timetable Allocations;
Educational policies.
The successful candidate will work jointly across all staff teams and closely liaise with fellow senior managers to promote a challenging and enthusiastic educational partnership. You will be required to demonstrate that you have played an active role in the development and implementation of inspirational educational outcomes, and have experience of a wide range managerial tasks. You will ensure that through person centered planning the highest quality of service is provided for our young people and adults and that all staff are supported and encouraged to achieve and exceed their full potential.
As directed by the Principal your key responsibilities will include providing advice, support, guidance and management to staff in line with Company policy and to be responsible for health & safety issues relating to you, young people and adults, colleagues and visitors to the service.
It would be a distinct advantage if you already have experience of working in a specialist educational setting, however this is not critical.
