At Bath College we believe that every young person, regardless of their background or situation, has the potential to succeed provided they are given the right supportive environment. This is why our support staff play such a key role in our student’s academic lives.
We are looking to expand our team of Facilitators, which supports learners across a range of foundation and vocational areas. Learners will normally be aged 16 – 25 years of age and the role provides support to learners under the direction of Link Tutors and our curriculum staff.
As a person-centred support staff member you will be a dynamic, forward thinking and pro-active team player, with passion and commitment to holistically supporting our more vulnerable students in developing their independence and vocational skills (including English and Maths). The role demands good IT skills as it involves working with assistive technology and record keeping for audit purposes.
You will need to be able to work flexibly to be able to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners from a wide variety of backgrounds. You will be able to respond quickly, effectively and non-judgementally to the often challenging and diverse range of issues our students face.
Knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities, mental health issues, and the general issues facing young people today would be advantageous, as would previous experience of providing person-centred support.
Experience gained from working in the Inclusion Team has been valuable for some in pursuing a career in teaching so this role may suit those wishing to gain experience in a Further Education setting.
