Oaklands College is looking for a qualified and experienced Cycling Coach to take a lead on planning and delivering world-class performance coaching to our junior riders.
The academy is the only one of its kind in the country and as such this role represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced coach to work with some of the country’s best junior riders within this unique performance academy.
The academy aims to progress talented junior racing cyclists into the Elite senior ranks by comprehensively developing their endurance speed and strength training as well as enhancing skills, race craft and tactical awareness alongside it. Vital to this process is the day-to-day delivery of coaching and training sessions in the open environment throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire as well as further afield. The academy is an endurance focussed setting and as such, the training takes place on road and trail stretching out from its base in St Albans and the Gosling Stadium Velodrome as well as making the most of host venues such as Redbridge Cycling Centre, which is one of the academy’s key partners.
The Oaklands Wolves Cycling coaching environment is unique in that the coaches ride with the academy riders in most of their sessions. This is due mostly to the fact that the vast majority of the coaching is training facilitation alongside individualised coaching and feedback in the open environment. The right coach will be expected to take a lead on the technical coaching off road riders specifically including those racing MTB and Cyclo-Cross, experience in these fields is essential.
This role is ideal for a high performance coach that is keen to ride with the academy riders in order to be fully in tune with their performance and fatigue levels.
