Notre Dame School has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and enthusiastic Drama Technician to support teaching and learning in the Senior School Drama department.
The Drama department’s facilities include a fully equipped, West End quality theatre seating over 350.
THE ROLE
Our Drama Technician manage, provide and supervise all aspects of theatre productions and technical drama.
In an exciting, wide, varied role, our Technicians are involved in lighting, sound, video, props, scenery, costume, rigging and stage management. They support the theatre and its students facilitate high quality, forward thinking and innovative drama.
Our technicians are essential in our commitment to promoting the drama talent of tomorrow. They supervise and demonstrate to students how technical drama skills can support their Exams, LAMDA and love of drama.
THE PERSON
The ideal candidate will be a technician with experience ideally have experience of working as a theatre or performing arts technician within the 11-18 age range or have experience of working in a school environment.
A good knowledge of current health and safety regulations with regard to a theatre environment is essential.
Experience of supervising and training students in the use of lighting and sound systems associated to their academic and co-curricular activities is also desirable.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants should hold recognised qualification in any of the following: technical production, stage management, lighting and or sound electronics
• Practical knowledge of electrical principles and electrical safety including 3-phase electricity and DMX.
• Practical skills in building and painting sets, prop making or sourcing
• Previous experience of working as a Drama/Theatre Technician in a school environment
• Organization skills required for keeping technical and workshop areas clean and tidy
Hours: Full Time 36 hours per week, (Term time only)
Start date: April 2023
