An exciting opportunity to work at our rapidly expanding Sixth Form Centre.
Briarwood Sixth Form Caters for a range of students whom have severe and profound learning difficulties. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Preparation for Work Lecturer, to join a successful and supportive department. The Preparation for Work Lecturer will deliver sessions that promote the acquirement of skills that support seeking employment. The Lecturer recruited for the Preparation for Work Lecturer will be supporting students in developing their employability skills, including social interaction. They will be responsible for making sure all students, despite need will have opportunities to develop skills for business enterprise sessions or an appropriate work place, dependent on the learner. The lecturer will also be the Briarwood Post 16 careers adviser, supporting students with finding their career pathway upon leaving Sixth Form. They will also be required to to research and establish links with other Post 19 providers, local businesses offering opportunities for students with additional needs and appropriate internships.
The role will be for 2 days per week, delivering sessions across the department to learners of varying need and ability. All students will achieve appropriate accreditation from a range of awarding bodies suited to the learner.
Candidates will have the ability and willingness to participate in curriculum development within their subject, accreditation implementation and moderation and an awareness for the needs of all students. At Briarwood we have high aspirational goals for all learner and successful candidate will inspire, motivate and challenge students to reach their full potential.
To be considered for this post you must possess a sound knowledge of the 16-19 curriculum and have achieved or be willing to work towards the Level 3 Award in Education Training.
The post is 13 hours a week, term time only, plus inset days.
