Are you ready for a new professional opportunity in a recently opened school? Do you want to lead and develop and faculty to become the best in the local area? Here is a rare opportunity to build and shape a team to ensure that our students gain the best possible experiences in Art and Design Technology as our school grows.
Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7 and 8 and our first cohort of Year 12 students formed our new Sixth Form in September 2019. This includes students studying Art, Fashion and Textiles, and Product Design at A-level, supported by a team of three strong and experienced teachers.
We require a highly effective Curriculum Leader of Art, Design and Technology whose practice is instrumental in ensuring that students of all ages and abilities achieve consistently strong outcomes. You will be an outstanding teacher of Art or DT who has the qualities to lead colleagues in each of these areas, securing the highest possible standards in teaching and learning. You will have the ability teach at all levels from years 7 to 13 and be driven to ensure that students receive the best possible experience of the subject by bringing creative ideas to the classroom.
• An ambitious leadership team with a clear vision for the Academy.
• Students with a desire to achieve.
• Great facilities and a well-resourced department, including specialist art, food technology, textiles and product design spaces
• A friendly and supportive staff who are always happy to help each other and share good practice
• Strong support from SLT
• A strong CPD programme and the opportunity to deliver as well as receive training
• Access to a middle leader development programme
• Excellent career opportunities and progression, particularly as the school grows
• The opportunity to be part of a successful 11-18 provision
Our objective is to be a flagship Academy where every students not only achieves their full potential but also feels an integral part of the organisation; an Academy where no child is left behind; an Academy where the bonds between parent, teacher and child are so secure that failure is not an option. The unique community that we are building ensures that young people achieve their ambition in a caring environment where they are the centre of all that we do.
Further details are available on the Academy website and in the information documents attached. Informal conversations with the Principal, Graham Davis, are available prior to application; please email the office to arrange this.
Applications should be submitted electronically by 9am on Monday 9th March. Interviews will take place shortly after this.
Great Western Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
