Health and Safety Officer
Actual Annual Salary: £12,834 - £13,864 pa
FTE Salary: £25,722 - £27,786 pa
Contract Details: Part-Time, 20 hours per week, 42 weeks per year
Start Date: 19 August 2019
We are looking for someone who can lead and hold the responsibility for providing health, safety and environmental management across New College. This is on all aspects of the health and safety management system, risks, policy, performance standards and compliance with external standards, supported by the Facilities Manager.
Ideally, the 20 hours per week would be worked over 5 days but we would be open to considering this over 4 days per week.
1. Health and Safety - Advise Principalship, SLT and college managers on compliance with current H&S legislation, best practice and awarding bodies standards in all the College’s operations. In conjunction with the Facilities Manager and Team, monitor and report on the College’s H&S performance and ensure a secure, safe and healthy environment for all staff, students and visitors; to formulate, review and amend the College’s H&S policies and other relevant policies and procedures; monitor their implementation.
2. Staff support – to support HR and Line Managers in relation to wellbeing including Workstation/DSE, Stress, Pregnancy and Return to Work Assessments for all departments.
3. Facilities – assist the Facilities Manager to cover and support the day to day management of the Facilities Team, offer support and guidance to the Facilities Team and carry out duties in the absence of the Facilities Manager.
It is essential that you hold a NEBOSH Certificate or IOSH Qualification and Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy. You are required to have excellent IT skills across Microsoft packages, PPM systems and help desk and good knowledge of Office 365.
You must have an experience of working within a senior Health and Safety role, preferably within an education environment and have excellent report writing skills. As well as being well organised and self-motivated, you must be flexible in order to get the job done.

Please note an enhanced DBS will be required for this role. The successful candidate is required to meet the payment of this DBS check which is currently £44.
