MySide Education is establishing a new specialist provision in Surrey, opening in April 2020. The provision will offer an outstanding education for a group of unique young people aged 9-14 who have mild Special Educational Needs that have led to them disengaging in the mainstream sector and therefore unable to access education for at least 6 months. Typically, these are Neurodiverse learners and do not present as BESD, but more insular in their needs. The school is in Churt, close to Farnham, Guildford and Hindhead.
MySide has a ‘needs led’ approach to meeting each young person’s needs, resulting in carefully managed learner pathways, including specialist intervention work with our therapeutic team. The school works closely in partnership with families, referring authorities, mainstream settings and external agencies to coordinate the best possible education, care, guidance and support for the young people.
As a new setting that has been developed off the success of other local SEN provision, we are now seeking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic HTLAs with specialist interests:
HTLA Equine and animal care
HTLA Animation, Media and Technology
HTLA Working outdoors and Forest school-based intervention.
You would be working with up to 4 young people supporting them in core subjects and 40 % of your day you will lead small group sessions or support session based on you specialist interest.
MySide Educational Hub will initially work with just 12 young people, with an aspiration to grow and be able support 36 young people over the next 3 years. Therefore, offering opportunities for continued professional development for someone aspiring to gain teaching status.
Applications are welcome from those experienced and newly graduating practitioners who can think creatively and are resilient and motivated by challenges. Experience of working within a SEN setting is desirable but not essential.
Please contact Melissa Farnham CEO by email if you have any further questions or would like to arrange a phone call or visit.
