Yeovil College is an inclusive tertiary college serving local communities through the campus in Yeovil. It has enjoyed outstanding achievement rates in recent years, it is the highest performing College in Somerset for 16-18 achievement, with a forecast annual turnover for 2019 – 20 of c.£15m and an Ofsted outcome of Good. Since the last inspection the College continues to make strong progress with significant pace and energy towards the goal of an ‘Outstanding’ outcome at the next inspection.
The management and wider college team have absolute uncompromising ambition for leaners to maximise their potential with a clear vision and ‘road map’ for the journey to Outstanding. The current Vice Principal is moving on to take up a new challenge leaving behind an incredibly motivated, ambitious and driven curriculum team where every member of staff has a clear understanding of the role they play in being an Outstanding college.
The constraints imposed by the current COVID-19 situation have interrupted the planned time line of the recruitment process and to ensure we have appropriate capacity as soon as possible, we would like to recruit an Interim VP Curriculum and Quality for a fixed term up until 31 December 2020. Depending on the timing of the permanent VP Curriculum and Quality recruitment, it is possible this date may be extended. As such we are seeking a talented and inspiring individual to join the senior team and wider college team, ensuring the College is able to maintain its momentum, with both the capability, capacity and vision required to achieve the ambitious objectives which have been agreed. Our interim Vice Principal will provide strategic direction for the College’s development, delivery and quality of provision, further building the capacity for our learners and community to succeed.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful delivery of strategic objectives at a senior level and will demonstrate a good understanding of educational issues, and will be able to hit the ground running. He or she will be engaging, creative, entrepreneurial and visionary – someone who will inspire both our committed staff and our experienced, supportive and ambitious Governing Body. We would be happy to accept applications from individuals for both the interim and permanent roles if appropriate, it will not be necessary to complete two applications, please indicate on your personal statement if you would like to be considered for both roles.
In your application, you must demonstrate that you can meet the described challenges and more.
In addition to the competitive remuneration package, we offer a great place to work and a beautiful part of the country in which to live. To support the right applicant we would also consider a re-location package. If this could be the opportunity for you, then we encourage you to contact us.
To arrange an informal call with Mark Bolton (Principal) please contact the HR Department.
