IT Support Technician
The school is eager to appoint an IT Support Technician to a full-time post (32.5hrs / 42 weeks, Grade 3 SCP 3-5) at Ysgol Gymraeg Ystalyfera Bro Dur. This is a one-year contract within the first instance, however there is a strong potential to extend this to a permanent contract. A suitably qualified candidate with prior experience and continued ongoing job training would have potential of increasing their responsibilities into a more management / strategic role within the school.
The school has benefited from an extensive investment in both buildings and resources as part of the 21st Century schools project, opening an all-age school, with pupils from 3-19, within a brand new Primary setting in Sept 2018, our Bro Dur campus in Port Talbot in Sept 2018 and a third phase of building works at Ystalyfera (commencing June 2020).
The IT Department is a busy department supporting every aspect of the schools’ use of ICT and related technologies. Other responsibilities will include installing and configuring new equipment and solutions as well as upgrading existing systems, supporting the national learning platform (HWB), and providing basic training as required by teaching and support staff.
The successful applicant will enjoy the support of a close knit and effective team of staff. S/He will work closely with the IT Manager & Head of IT / Digital Competency as well as an effective team of admin support staff at the school. The ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh would be a distinct advantage within this post.
If you would like further details on this post or for an informal conversation, please contact the Head, Mr Matthew Evans.
You can apply for this post via an application form and letter outlining your skills and experience which are relevant for this post. You can include your relevant experiences as well as your vision in ways you could contribute to the life of the school as a learning community.
