About us and the role
We are seeking to appoint a Key Stage Four Lead with exceptional subject knowledge, to continue to inspire, shape and steer the team and curriculum in the right direction. We are looking for an innovative and strategic thinker with vision and ideas who leads by example and someone who believes in research informed strategies to accelerate progress and maximise our students’ outcomes.
This position is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about their subject, brimming with ideas and initiatives to help enhance teaching practice, learning and outcomes for all groups of learners. The successful candidate will lead a vibrant and enthusiastic team who strive to ensure that all students enjoy learning and surpass expectations.

The English department in Avanti House School comprises of a warm and wonderful team of nine outstanding teachers. Each team member is an expert in their subject and has the autonomy to exhibit their own unique teaching personality. What the team share, is a strong ethos for collaboration and conveying their passion of literature as a tool to evoke intellectual curiosity, spiritual growth and academic excellence in each child. This shared passion and collaboration creates a strong foundation for success and allows us to achieve the best outcomes for our students; we have a track record of successful GCSE results and A levels, with our last GCSE cohort attaining 81% of grades 9-5 in English Language and 79% in English Literature.

What will you do?
- Be responsible for student achievement and progress in Key Stage English, including the use of whole school systems for tracking and intervention
- Ensure that intervention is coordinated, rigorous, tracked and leads to impact, including one-to-one provision to support teaching assistants and after school clubs
- Promote English and Literacy across the curriculum, including the organisation of external visitors, trips and competitions
- Ensure that books are well marked and staff are adhering to the whole school policies through tracking and monitoring
